Finally made something

Well, strictly speaking I didn't just make it,  I only finally got around to finishing this brooch that has sat in pieces in a box since last year waiting for me to get around to it. It is for a friend, so I hope she likes it.
It is hand drawn on a scrap of vintage linen and then bonded to two layers of felt. The body is copper wire and seed beads.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Here is our little house in the Highlands. As you can see, it is rather chilly right now.

Current conditions are freezing fog. I am trying to keep my little girl cosy inside as she is cough, cough, coughing away at the moment.

...and now to warm your heart, a couple of pictures of my two silly girls. I don't really know how Naomi took these photos of herself and her sister, but they are cute aren't they?

...and I showed you these a long time ago, but here is another use for the plastic milk bottle lids I save. These are my pin cushion brooches. Very handy to have when you are sitting doing hand sewing and need somewhere to stick the pins and needles. Have you ever stuck a needle into the arm of your sofa only to forget about it until you prick yourself on it later? Hmm? No? OK! Anyway, they are very handy, and the plastic means that you don't stick yourself right through the brooch with a pin. I was going to list some in my Ebay shop eventually, but because I have been busy with the house at the moment, most crafts have taken a back seat. Although I have started to crochet a blanket in the evenings. I might show you later.
...I'll be back soon with a little giveaway... until then...stay warm and cosy :-)

Pierre

What is inside this little matchbox case with it's miniature luggage labels and leather handles?
Bonjour ! It's Pierre the bear, complete with little felt beret and spotted bandana.
His little case is lined with some French children's rhymes from an old 1920s encyclopedia.
And here he is, out and about in France, seeking directions to the nearest patisserie for some pain au chocolat.
This well travelled bear will be visiting my Etsy shop soon.

I'm back...bearly

Hello! It seems my internet is back working now. Much to my relief!
Now I can share with you what I have been making.
Tiny little one-of-a-kind, felt bears.

This is Clothilde. She longs to be a ballerina, and likes to dress up like one all the time. She even has a tiny tiara.

This is Pierre. The little brown bear.
He is rummaging about for accessories at the moment. I shall show you what he looks like when he is completed, but now I had better go finish some of those tidying jobs I started while I had no internet. It's amazing what you can get done when you are not surfing!

interlude

I made this tiny bunny the other evening while watching the TV. Don't ask me what possessed me to make a bright pink bunny with a blue tail. Who knows! He is approximately two inches from nose to tail.
I am busy working on the jar for February tutorial right now. Also, I am trying to clean this house and locate the mouse which has found his way in somehow. (Any mouse deterrent tips gladly received)
Hopefully next post will be the Tutorial.

new butterfly brooch

I recently finished this butterfly brooch. Wouldn't like to admit to you how long ago I started it!

It is hand drawn onto vintage cotton and then bonded onto felt and stitched. I used copper wire for the body, and little seed beads for his eyes.
Do you like this interesting fabric he is sitting on? I just bought it. It is in fact a cheap dust sheet from Lidls. I can't wait to make something out of it. It is backed with a soft plastic, so not sure yet what I am going to make, but the colours in it are just sumptious! There is even an occasional glittery thread in there.
Orange tip butterfly brooch will be in my Etsy store soon.

Anyone like ironing?

Well...I spent much of my morning working
my way through the ironing pile that has
been gathering for some time now. I just have the
shirts to go and then I'm done - until next time!
I have to say, ironing is not one of my favourite things.

I've also taken a few pictures of my necklaces and so
I should be listing some of them on Etsy soon.

Here is a glimpse of some little pincushions
I was working on when I wasn't feeling so good last week.

Little Hoots

These little guys and gals will be in my Etsy shop soon.
They are my Little Hoots character owl brooches.
They are only about 2 inches tall.
Each one has a unique personality.

This is Blossom and Romeo.
Blossom likes poetry and pretty things.
Romeo - well he's a bit of a ladies owl!

Pearl and Oswald
Pearl's a singer- she likes a bit of JAzZ!
Oswald likes nothing better than a good read.
(His book has real pages from a vintage encyclopedia)

And this... is Claude.[sold] (He's an eccentric artist.)

and they all come in little handmade boxes.

Morning light and munchkins.

This was around 8:30am
That is frost not snow.
It's the view from my kitchen window.
I wish I could capture how beautiful it was.
The photo isn't as good as the real thing.

My mum made a little pullover for my munchkin.
I sewed a little felt cat on it this morning.
Gabsy chose the colour.

Owl brooch

This is snowy, the little owl pin.
I really like the way his expression turned out.
I've put him for sale in my Etsy shop.
Here's a little pin I made a while ago.

I used scraps of felt, seed beads and embroidery floss.

He's already sold and flown the Atlantic.

I hope he and his little mouse friend are happy !
