The latest cake... funny money.

Well, I have to say this was a labour of love. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Big daughter turns 20 tomorrow. I'm giving her birthday money and a cake all in one this time ;-)  Can't say it bears a huge resemblance to a real £20 note, let's just say it's a cartoon representation with a great deal of artistic licence !
Let's just check...real note....

...fakery cakery...no, I don't think I'll be moonlighting as a forger any time soon!

playing with paper...3D cards

I had some fun yesterday using my Tonic Studios products to make a couple of 3D  aperture cards. There are lots more ideas in my head right now, but I have other things to get on with. My big girl turns 20 this Saturday, so I have a cake to decorate. Boy am I feeling old! Wish I was 20!

I guess I'll just have to file the other ideas in my head until I get a chance. Life's like that sometimes! Hope I can remember how to access those files when I have the time!

My Folksy Shop

A surprise sale from my Folksy shop which only had a couple of items in it has spurred me on to list more items today. So I'm just popping by to let you know - just in case you are looking for a special card for someone. More items will probably be going in the shop over the next week.

Weddings and Lizards

Yes, that is a strange combination isn't it! Just letting you know that Tonic Studios is doing Weddings on Create and Craft TV today. It's on at 7pm this evening if you missed the earlier showings.

..and the lizard bit? Well, my little girl managed to catch a very fast little lizard that was running through the garden the other day. It was absolutely adorable. Not something we see everyday here in the Highlands so it was rather a treat!

The Light Highland nights

The sky had some wonderful streaks of pink in it last night. This photo was taken at 10:40pm and it was still plenty light enough to take photos. I took a picture of the Mimulus that is flowering away with it's cheeky litle faces just now. So cheerful and pretty.

A card and a garden visitor

Not my best photo, Mr Pheasant wouldn't keep still long enough for me to get a really good shot. Here he is sitting on my garden wall. The wall backs onto a pretty forest.

It's been a busy weekend, but now I seem to have hurt my back...so a day of gentle activities is called for...the housework will just have to wait.

Our little girl went on her first ever sleepover on Friday night and as our older daughter was away too, the house felt very quiet and empty.
I made a special birthday card for my daughter's friend who was having the birthday sleepover...

I used the lovely new Tonic Studios Gothic Verso dies and punch for all those pretty edges. The number and name were cut with my Cricut mini.

A card and a cake to match

I made this card using my Tonic Studio tools. Dog roses are my mum's favourite and I had fun making it. I'm also making my homemade lasagne and some cake for this evening and I thought it would be fun to decorate my mum's cake to match her card.

I do wish my cake covering skills were better, but I used a little handy strip of punched card to hide the flaws at the edges!!! (Maybe I'll be able to get a how to lesson from my talented nieces when they visit mid August. )

Here's the cake...

It should taste good - it was baked by my older daughter, Naomi. Thanks Naomi!
