A quick cut
I mentioned to you in the last post that I am not very organised, and this was the case for my husband's birthday. It was the night before at around 10pm and I hadn't made him a card yet. I usually make him some kind of silly cartoon card, but I didn't want to disappear for very long, so it was a case of a speedy sketch and then a quick effort with the craft knife. From start to finish it must have taken me about 5 minutes (if I'd had more time it would have been neater.)
I was going for simple but effective with a touch of the naive - well that's what I'm telling myself! At least it was in keeping with the whole gardening theme we had going, and he thought it was really nice. I hadn't done any paper cut cards for several years, but now I have done this one, I think I may well be getting the knife out again soon. I need the practise!
It's the message inside that counts - but I'm not sharing that ;-)

Thankyou
I want to say thank you very much to Rena who recently awarded me this Kreativ blogger award...
and also to Fabi who gave me this From Me to You award. I also want to apologise to you both because I am not very good at keeping up with these kind of things. I am afraid I am going to cheat because both awards have similar things to do. I'll post seven random things about me that you might not know, then I've created my own little award for blogs I love to visit.
Now for the random facts...
1. I play ukulele
2. I write songs for Sunday school children
3. I love gardening
4. I love to use essential oils, in particular lavender and tea tree
5. I love rocket salad with orange balsamic dressing
5. I love rocket salad with orange balsamic dressing
6. I'm not very organised
7. I make all my own greeting cards (but often fail to send them out in time for occasions because of fact no.6)

Here are seven wonderful people (out of many) whose blogs I enjoy visiting and I think you would too.
This award is for them...why not spend a pleasant while browsing their blogs.
PS. Pierre is now in the shop :-)

Hello!
It's been hectic as usual in the Smith house. I am still chasing my tail trying to get too many jobs done. I thought I'd let you have a glimpse of the cactus in a pot cake I made for my husband's garden themed birthday. It was going to be more of an Aloe Vera plant, but time was running out so I went for the easy option!
(Sorry for the blurry photo. ) The cactus spikes are chocolate vermicelli. The cactus is a blob of fondant icing and the mud is melted chocolate - which in retrospect wasn't a very good idea 'cos it didn't cut neatly - but it tasted good!

Internet blues!
My internet is currently so slow, I can hardly do a thing. Sorry I can't post any pictures of what I am working on today. Technical support from some far and foreign clime, have assured me it will take no longer than 3 days to sort out our Internet issues, but it has already been 5 days of snail pace. I shall be back on the phone to them again shortly! It's very frustrating not being able to visit your blogs and see what you have been up to. It inspires me daily. However, I have been getting on well with my tidying and clearing up. If I could read all your blogs, I would get much less done in the house. Hmmm.
Anyway, I hope to be back with you soon and show you what I have been stitching. It's very cute!
Have a lovely day wherever you are, and thanks so much to all of you who follow this blog, or leave lovely comments.
You always make my day!
