The latest on the new house

A little update on the house. This was a couple of days ago. Hopefully we will get one or two more pictures later this afternoon and see some more progress. I think windows will be going in next.

Looks rather alarmingly tiny when you see it like this, but I am sure it will be big enough to live in !!

A present - with love

This cute little present die on the front of the card is from the new Tonic Studios Christmas collection, but it could just as easily be a present for any occasion as shown here- so a really useful die to own.
I'm not a huge pink fan, but I do like this shade of pink paired with bright yellow. Nice and cheery don't you think?

  • Layering Die – Deco Geometric – 526e

Och Aye...it's Stuart the Stag

I made a wee decorative mini cushion using one of Tonic's latest dies. Everyone has given this stag a name, so I've decided he's called Stuart! I've cut him out of flock Tshirt vinyl then pressed him firmly with a hot dry iron onto the tartan. I cut Stuart out with my Big Shot and although it did take putting through a good few times, it cut fine in the end. (In the past I have cut tshirt vinyl easily with my Xcut Xpress...which stopped working a wee while back.)

I must put Stuart in my imaginary hunting lodge along with this...

Which I showed you back in this post.

Och well, I must be getting on with all ma wee jobs around the hoose.

House progress

We've had quite a bit of rain over the weekend so I don't imagine they have made much more progress than this picture which was taken Friday. Thought I'd just post this quick picture to keep a track of how it is coming along.

Still waiting for summer here!

Have a nice day

The roof joists are up

Here is the latest progress on the house. It is really beginning to take shape now. Just hoping for some dry weather while they make the house watertight !

That's all for now.

Die cut cake topper

It was my mother's birthday yesterday. She is 83 years young. My older daughter made a delicious lime cake with a coconut cream frosting. It was totally delicious. I say was...it didn't last too long.

For a quick decoration on top of the cake I used Tonic Studios Happy Birthday die. I cut two from pearlised pink card, one on the reverse of the card, and glued them together with two cocktail sticks in between. It was all the decoration the already pretty cake needed. (We decided on 8 candles, one for each decade rather than trying to fit 83 candles on....might have been a bit of a fire hazard ! )

And here is the birthday girl cutting her cake. :-)

Have a nice day

A Thankyou card for a friend

I've rustled up a quick thankyou card with the latest dies that have dropped through my letterbox this morning. The lattice design of this Topnote trellis base die set is just gorgeous and I know I'll use them time and time again. The thankyou sentiment...also very useful.  I have much to be thankful for, especially the friend who I had in mind when I made this card.
Why not let someone you love know that you appreciate them today.

Hope you have a lovely day.

It's beginning to look a lot like a house!

This is the progress on the house as of this afternoon. Exciting stuff. The roof trusses are waiting to go on...think that's happening on Monday. I can already see where all the rooms will be for the ground floor and can begin to visualise it a little.
It's been a beautiful warm sunny day so they have made good progress today. Hope the weather lasts until it has all been made watertight.

I'll be back with more progress photos soon.

A Father's Day Card

I've used one of the new sets from Tonic Studios to make this Father's Day card. The "Thanks for being you " sentiment is going to be perfect for so many occasions.
I cut the DAD out of the family sentiments to enable me to use it sideways.

The metallic flower is made from Tonic Studios flower mold.  I used a low melt glue gun and some sealing wax sticks. It's a quick way to do it. You can also use regular glue sticks in the moulds and then colour them with paint or inks.

Tonic Products used

  • Family Members Sentiment Die Set 1 – 604E
  • Forever Floral Spring Bouquet Mould Set – 45e
  • Indulgence Die & Stamp Set – Home Together – 1036e
  • Indulgence Die & Stamp Set – Friends Are Forever – 1037e
Have a lovely day

The house kit has arrived !

Our house kit arrived yesterday and my husband drove by this morning to take a quick photo before work. Looks like they are getting on well with it. Another dry sunny day here today so perfect for them to make good progress.
So exciting to finally see something happening.

A Spot of glass etching using diecuts

I used one of Tonic Studios latest dies to make the frame for this little glass etching project. You can see from my picture here how I set up the vinyl for etching.

As you can see, it doesn't matter the colour of your scraps of vinyl that you use as they are only to act as a stencil for the Etching cream.

It turned out rather pretty don't you think? Anything you can do to pretty up the whole dishwashing experience is fine with me.

If you'd like to see a few of my other glass etching projects I have done using Tonic dies, you can see them here, here and here. There's a few hints and tips too.

Tonic Dies used.
  • Pretoria DuoCaps Initial A-N Die Set – 608e
  • Pretoria DuoCaps Initial O-Z Die Set – 609e
  • Indulgence Die & Stamp Set – Today Is All About You – 1038e
Have a lovely day....roll on summer!!!
